Complete Auger decay pathways of Kr 3d−1hole levels including direct double processes

Abstract: The detailed level-to-level single and double Auger decay rates of Kr 3d−1 hole states are investigated in the framework of the first and second perturbation theory implemented by distorted wave approximation with the balanced large-scale configuration interaction of the successive ions being taken into account. The branching ratios of cascade and direct double Auger decay to the total probability are predicted to be 16.5% and 16.1%, respectively, for Kr and 16.8% and 17.2% for Kr , resulting in total double … Show more

“…Yet the dominant DDAD mechanism is knock-out (KO) rather than SO for the single and double core hole states of Ne and therefore the investigation of DDAD effects is incomplete. The conclusion that the dominant DDAD mechanism is KO for the inner-shell core hole levels has been demonstrated by our recent work [17,18]. For Ar 2p −1 and Kr 3d −1 core hole levels, we [17,18] determined that the SO mechanism contributes only 5.5% and 22%, respectively, to the total DDAD rates.…”

Using the same approach as for Ar, they obtained for the CDAD and DDAD branching ratios similar values, namely 16.6% and 16.5%, respectively.…”
