Complementary Detection of Prostate-Specific Antigen Using In2O3 Nanowires and Carbon Nanotubes

Abstract: We report complementary detection of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) using n-type In2O3 nanowires and p-type carbon nanotubes. Our innovation involves developing an approach to covalently attach antibodies to In2O3 NW surfaces via the onsite surface synthesis of phosphonic acid-succinylimide ester. Electronic measurements under dry conditions revealed complementary response for In2O3 NW and SWNT devices after the binding of PSA. Real-time detection in solution has also been demonstrated for PSA down to 5 ng/mL… Show more

“…While the above literature reported the use of CNTs as successful sensors for a number of cancer biomarkers, sensing systems based on the combination of both CNTs and In 2 O 3 nanowires were also investigated (Li et al, 2005). An active channel that bridged the source/drain electrodes was made up of combined p-type CNTs and n-type In 2 O 3 nanowires.…”

“…The net current change increased with the IgE concentration and an LOD for IgE of 250 pM was reported. Li et al [76] studied the detection of PSA with an FET comprised of a network of SWNTs. The authors measured the electronic interaction of an anti-PSA Ab capturing PSA antigen.…”
