Complementary and Alternative Medicine

Abstract: Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is an umbrella term used to denote a group of diverse medical modalities, practices, and products that are not generally considered to be part of conventional biomedicine in Western countries. Women are more likely than men to use, practice, and study CAM. Women were also found to be more actively involved in mindfulness practices such as meditation, guided imagery, and deep breathing for relaxation, and to have greater affinity for New Age and holistic spirituality… Show more
