As game theory continues to be a relevant approach in evaluating supply chain coordination and competition, this paper explores the various applications and current trends of game theory to supply chain management through an exhaustive review on the literature. This work reviews more than 200 papers which cover several supply chain formations, structures, environments, and decisions together with different game theoretic concepts and applications. First, the paper elaborates on the basic concepts of Nash and Stackelberg games to allow further understanding of their applications in supply chain analysis. The review is then presented and divided into three segments: 1) the development of game theory; 2) the use of Nash and Stackelberg solution concepts in analysing supply chain management; 3) the integration of game theory to different supply chain structures, decisions, and present conditions. Moreover, descriptive analytics are also provided to highlight the distribution of trending topics in the domain field. Finally, the paper provides a summary of the review and recommendation for future works in line with using game theory for supply chain analysis.

Purpose: The overstocked goods flow in the hub of hub-and-spoke logistics network should be disposed of in time, to reduce delay loss and improve the utilization rate of logistics network resources. The problem we need to solve is to let logistics network cooperate by sharing network resources to shunt goods from one hub-and-spoke network to another hub-and-spoke network.Design/methodology/approach: This paper proposes the hub shunting cooperation between two hub-and-spoke networks. Firstly, a hybrid integer programming model was established to describe the problem, and then a multi-layer genetic algorithm was designed to solve it and two hub-and-spoke networks are expressed by different gene segments encoded by genes. The network data of two third-party logistics companies in southern and northern China are used for example analysis at the last step. Findings: The hub-and-spoke networks of the two companies were constructed simultaneously. The transfer cost coefficient between two networks and the volume of cargo flow in the network have an impact on the computation of hubs that needed to be shunt and the corresponding cooperation hubs in the other network.Originality/value: Previous researches on hub-and-spoke logistics network focus on one logistics network, while we study the cooperation and interaction between two hub-and-spoke networks. It shows that two hub-and-spoke network can cooperate across the network to shunt the goods in the hub and improve the operation efficiency of the logistics network.

Government Support and Market Proximity: Exploring Their Relationship with Supply Chain Agility and Financial performance

The current paper presents a structural equation model with four variables (Government, Infrastructure, Proximity to market, and supply chain Agility) affecting the Financial performance of a company. Six hypotheses or relationships among variables are proposed, supposing that Government and market Proximity are key elements to achieve a greater Agility in supply chains, considering the regional Infrastructure to determine the impact on Financial performance in manufacturing companies. The model is validated with data from a survey applied to 225 persons in 65 manufacturing companies located in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. The model is evaluated using partial least squares, and the findings indicate that there is a direct and positive effect from the Government on regional Infrastructure with a rate of 0.436. When the Government supports the availability of land, energy resources, transportation, telecommunications, mobile telephones, and other services, a positive change is achieved in the Infrastructure and supply chain Agility. Furthermore, the Government also has a direct and positive effect on the market Proximity at a rate of 0.171; consequently, the regional Infrastructure also has an effect on it. Similarly, the market Proximity directly and positively influences the supply chain Agility, as well as a company’s Financial performance at a rate of 0.506.
