Abstract

China has a long history of pig breeding, with abundant genetic resources over a wide distribution. Local pig breeds have various beneficial characteristics, such as high stress resistance, high coarse fodder tolerance, and high fecundity. However, these breeds have some shortcomings compared with introduced pig breeds, such as a low lean meat percentage, longer growth cycle, and especially thick subcutaneous fat (McOrist
