Abstract:A probabilistic approach to epidemic evolution on realistic social-connection graphs allows for characteristic differences among subjects, including the individual structure and number of social contacts ('ego networks') and the individual infection and recovery rates according to age or medical preconditions. Within our probabilistic Susceptible-Infectious-Removed (SIR) model on graphs, we compare the infection load and proxy cost of control scenarios by confinement, vaccination, and their combinations. scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
