Compensation range calculation in an interline dynamic voltage restorer (IDVR) encountering different voltage sag types

Abstract: SUMMARY This paper is concerned with determining the compensation capability of an interline dynamic voltage restorer (IDVR) under various balanced and unbalanced voltage sag scenarios. An IDVR consists of two or more DVRs with a common dc link which enables active power exchange among DVRs. This feature increases the compensation range of an IDVR as compared with separate but otherwise similar DVRs with no energy storage. The steady‐state modeling and analysis of an IDVR is briefly explained in this paper. Th… Show more

“…By eliminating the utilized power converter in [9][10][11][12][13][14], and by using a DC source voltage instead of other power storage sources, the problem with high estimated costs for this setup will be resolved. With the aid of a DC source voltage as a high power storage and converter, the problems with high cost and power convertor (especially power quality problem) can be resolved.…”

“…An interline dynamic voltage restorer method is presented, and the compensation range is analysed for different voltage sag types. 18 The unified power flow controller (UPFC) as a flexible alternative current transmission system (FACTS) apparatus has a powerful capability to adjust the power flow. 19 This method has been used successfully in transmission systems to enhance transmission capability; it can control the compensation voltage amplitude and phase continuously and rapidly.…”
