Show more

“…The river flows through three major distinct geomorphological compartments: (i) the catchment area; (ii) the Negro megafan; and (iii) the NRIS. The river presents a sinuous channel over its bedrock reach in the catchment area (zone 1, Figures As the river enters the Pantanal Basin, its channel start to present alluvial pattern and forms an entrenched meander belt incised east-west over ancient lobes of the Negro megafan (zone 2, Figures 2A and 2B) (Cordeiro et al, 2010). The catchment area is located westward in the Maracaju-Campo Grande plateau and covers an area of~2906 km 2 (Figures 2A and 2B).…”

“…As geoformas encontradas no lobo distributário atual do Megaleque Fluvial do Aquidauana são encontradas em outros lobos deposicionais ativos na planície pantaneira, como descrita no lobo ativo do Megaleque do Taquari (Assine, 2003;Zani, 2008), no Taboco (Facincani, 2007), no Negro (Cordeiro et al, 2010), no Paraguai (Silva, 2010) e no São Lourenço (Corradini e Assine, 2012).…”
