Comparison Performance of Visible-NIR and Near-Infrared Hyperspectral Imaging for Prediction of Nutritional Quality of Goji Berry (Lycium barbarum L.)

Abstract: The potential of hyperspectral imaging for the prediction of the internal composition of goji berries was investigated. The prediction performances of models obtained in the Visible-Near Infrared (VIS-NIR) (400–1000 nm) and in the Near Infrared (NIR) (900–1700 nm) regions were compared. Analyzed constituents included Vitamin C, total antioxidant, phenols, anthocyanin, soluble solids content (SSC), and total acidity (TA). For vitamin C and AA, partial least square regression (PLSR) combined with different data … Show more

“…Meanwhile, the effective wavelengths of TF were almost consistent with former published studies, where 1,100 to 1,140,nm and 1,650 to 1,690 nm corresponded to the first overtone region and second overtone region of –CH 3 from flavonoids, respectively ( Figure 3C ) ( 34 ). Also, the 1,430 to 1,450 nm corresponded to the second overtone region of –CH from polyphenols ( 36 ), and wavelengths intervals of 425–520 and 725–995 nm corresponded to the most abundant phenolic compounds of ferulic acid in RRB ( Figure 3D ) ( 37 ).…”

“…A method introduced by [ 27 ] was used for measuring SSC, TA, and pH. Ten goji berries per replicate were homogenized in Ultra Turrax (T18 basic, IKA, Staufen, Germany) and then filtered with two layers of cheesecloth (SWAB 4040, JC NONSTE, Shanghai, China).…”

“…Among them, the closer the coefficient of determination R 2 is to 1, the better the regression or prediction result of the model, and if R 2 is small, it indicates a very poor fit. Smaller RMSECV and RMSEP values indicate a better model effect (Zhang et al 2019;Fatchurrahman et al 2021); RPD is used to verify the stability and predictive ability of the model. The model is good when RPD>2.5, average but usable when RPD is 2 to 2.5, and unusable when RPD<2 (Hao et al 2022).…”
