Comparison of Tumor - Infiltrating Lymphocytes Between Primary and Metastatic Tumors in Her2+ and HER2-Breast Cancer Patients

Abstract: The impact of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) on survival was confirmed in various cancer types. Our study aims to investigate the prognostic role of TILs on survival in patients with primary and metastatic tumors in breast cancer patients. We retrospectively identified 29 patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor - 2 (HER2+) and HER2 - early breast cancer diagnosed between 2012 and 2018 at Institute of Oncology Prof. Dr. Al. Trestioreanu Bucharest and who subsequently experienced regional or … Show more

“…In practice, it was observed that the breast cancer patients who are included in the same prognostic group in relation to known prognostic factors (tumor invasive nodes, tumor grading, tumor histology, presence or absence of hormone receptors, KI67, presence or absence of HER2), who underwent the same treatment, have different later developments. This leads to the conclusion that there are a number of other parameters that influence the evolution [11].…”

“…In four patients IVC reconstruction was not necessary, due to the presence of efficient collaterals. They have reached the conclusion that IVC resection is safe and well tolerated in patients with retroperitoneal masses invading the nearby vessels and that the need for vascular reconstruction has to be assessed according to preoperative imaging, intraoperative findings and to the extent of resection [50,51].…”

“…When para-aortic lymph nodes are involved in these kind of processes, they can affect the ureters, due to the mass effect, leading to ureterohydronephrosis and eventually renal displacement, with high risk of secondary renal failure [53], documented by pyelographic examination. Commonly, primary or metastatic retroperitoneal lymph nodes that are affected can not produce a palpable abdominal mass [54][55][56][57][58].…”
