Comparison of three control theories for single-phase Active Power Filters

Abstract: Active Power Filters have been developed in last years, mostly for three-phase systems applications. The use of Shunt Active Power Filters on single-phase facilities brings many benefits for the electrical grid, since these installations have non linear loads and power factor problems, and in their total, they are responsible by a significant portion of the total electric energy consumption. Harmonics and reactive power consumed by single-phase installations cause additional power losses on the electrical grid… Show more

“…Note that a harmonic attenuation all over the frequency spectrum is mostly achieved by the switched control, leading to a better compensation of the distorted current caused by the nonlinear load current. The control of APF is comprised by the linear voltage control reported in [5], the effectiveness and rationality of the approach proposed is confirmed by the simulation and comparison. Further research is needed to eliminate the overshoot caused by the quadratic convergence characteristics of the proposed control approach…”

“…In order to compare the performance of the control approach, the linear voltage control proposed in [5] is simulated with the same conditions and the parameters of the simulation system. The steady-state source current of the control reported in [5] and its total harmonic distortion are depicted in Fig. 7 (a) and (b).…”

“…In this paper given attention on shunt active filter for power acquisition which offers reactive power compensation, harmonic compensation, flicker/imbalance compensation and voltage regulation. This paper deals with different power quality issues and from that harmonics is one of the important issues that affect on equipment connected in our system [2]. Due to leap downside of passive filter, active filter used for harmonic reduction.…”
