Comparison of the TightRope system versus hook plate in acute acromioclavicular joint dislocations: a retrospective analysis

Abstract: This study compared the results of the minimally invasive coracoclavicular (CC) fixation with a single TightRope (MITR) procedure and the hook plate (HP) procedure for acute acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation treatment. Sixteen patients with a mean age of 44.9 ± 11 years were treated with the MITR procedure. Nineteen patients with a mean age of 40.2 ± 8.7 years were treated using the HP procedure. Clinical outcomes were evaluated with the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain, Constant–Murley Score (CMS), a… Show more

“…The Rockwood classification consists of 6 categories (I–VI), and it has been stated in the literature that Type I and II injuries should be treated conservatively while Type IV to VI injuries should be treated surgically. [ 2 , 5 , 7 , 9 ] There is no optimal treatment method for type III injuries; some surgeons recommend conservative and others surgical treatment. In our study, we preferred surgical treatment for type III injuries.…”

“…However, the treatment of type III injuries is still controversial, and most scholars still prefer surgical treatment. Currently, there are dozens of methods that can be used to treat AC dislocation, but none is considered the gold standard of treatment [4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] .…”

“…In recent years, research on the surgical treatment of AC joint dislocation focused on the anatomical reconstruction of the CC ligament. Reconstruction methods include allograft ligaments, arti cial ligaments, or suspension xation devices that mimic the anatomical and biomechanical characteristics of the CC ligament [6,8,10,13]. The Tightrope is a classic technique for suspension xation devices with adjustable tension.…”
