“…This finding is also in synchrony with results from a prior study where manual therapy was used to treat both acute and chronic neck pain and it was suggested that the use of manipulation and/or mobilization was a viable option for the management of neck pain though from our results, the clinical impact of these exercises on the disability index was minimal (Cabak, 2005). The significant improvement seen in the clinical outcome measures for the SDP group is in conformity with previous studies that had established the therapeutic efficacy of various types of NSAIDs gel phonophoresis on both acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain and disorders (Akinbo et al, 2011).…”

“…Rosim et al (40) showed that previous use of US increased transdermal penetration of Diclofenac gel in healthy individuals. In patients with knee osteoarthritis, the use of US associated with Diclofenac reduced pain and improved ROM in a more significant way than US alone (41). In our study, ultrasound combined with Copaíba oil presented larger effect than ultrasound or Copaíba oil alone to enhance range of motion both in flexion and extension.…”

“…In a previous study, diclofenac gel phonophoresis had similar efficacy on pain and functional status improvement in patients with knee OA for both continuous and pulsed mode (20% duty cycle) of US therapy (at 1 MHz frequency and 1.5 watt/cm 2 intensity), and both modalities of US therapy were more effective on pain and functional status than topical application of diclofenac gel [117]. Instead, Diclofenac sodium phonophoresis that used US at 1 MHz frequency and 1 watt/cm 2 intensity was found to be more effective compared to isolated US therapy on pain, stiffness, physical function, and walking time improvement in patients with knee OA [118].…”
