Abstract: Background: Remifentanil and sufentanil are potent short-acting synthetic opioid analgesics. The administration of remifentanil has been associated with the incidence of opioid-induced hyperalgesia. Opioid-induced hyperalgesia may be alleviated when opioids, such as morphine, are switched to sufentanil.
