Background and AimsThis study primarily assessed the performance of the UF‐1500, the novel and compact model of the fully automated urine particle analyzer and evaluated its performance against the existing UF‐5000 instrument.Materials and MethodsA total of 648 residual urine specimens were randomly collected and examined using both the UF‐1500 and UF‐5000 instruments as well as manual microscopy. For each parameter, the concordance rates and detection accuracy of the UF‐1500 against manual microscopy were compared with the UF‐5000.ResultsThe concordance rates between the UF‐1500 and manual microscopy were 75.3%–98.5%. The UF‐1500 concordance rates within one group agreement were observed to be >90%, for all parameters except for YLCs. The differences within one group agreement between the UF‐1500 and manual microscopy were insignificant, in comparison to the UF‐5000, with exceptions noted for ECs and YLCs. The sensitivity and specificity of the UF‐1500 for RBCs, WBCs, Squa.ECs, and BACT exceeded 80%, while the positive predictive values of ECs and CASTs were below 70%.ConclusionThe UF‐1500 exhibited a performance that was comparable to the existing instrument, the UF‐5000, and was suitable to be introduced in clinical practice. For the samples with suspected false‐positive or false‐negative results, a manual microscopic examination is required for accurate testing.

Introducción: El análisis de orina representa una de las pruebas de laboratorio más solicitas para el diagnóstico y seguimiento de enfermedades del sistema urinario y renal. A pesar de que la microscopia manual ha sido el método tradicional, su proceso se caracteriza por ser laborioso y requerir de mucho tiempo, es por esta razón que se han introducido sistemas automatizados con el objetivo de mejorar la veracidad de los resultados. Objetivo: establecer la relevancia de la homologación de resultados del análisis microscópico manual y automatizado de orina mediante una revisión bibliográfica.Métodos: Este estudio se basa en una investigación descriptiva de documentos bibliográficos con un análisis retrospectivo. Para la recopilación de información, se consultaron en diversas bases de datos como PudMED, Scielo, Google Scholar, Scopus, Elsevier. Durante la búsqueda bibliográfica se encontraron 25 artículos relacionados al tema de estudio, para ello, se empleó la metodología PRISMA. Resultados: mediante el análisis de las diferentes investigaciones, se evidencio que los analizadores automatizados mostraron una concordancia adecuada con la microscopía manual en lo que respecta a glóbulos rojos, glóbulos blancos y células epiteliales. No obstante, en el caso de bacterias y cilindros se ha evidenciado una concordancia inferior. Conclusión: el análisis microscópico de orina es crucial en el diagnóstico médico. La transición del método manual a equipos automatizados, ha mejorado la eficiencia y presión en los resultados. La comparación entre ambos métodos es fundamental para asegurar la confiabilidad de los resultados, lo que, contribuye a brindar tratamientos seguros y apropiados para los pacientes.
