Abstract:BACKGROUND The reported prevalence of diabetic retinopathy in diabetics is around 40 %. Diabetic macular oedema (DME) is defined as macular thickening resulting from diabetic retinopathy, due to leakage from micro aneurysms, or from a diffuse leakage of hyper permeable capillaries.
