Abstract:The purpose of this research program was to design and evaluate prototype artificially-cooled gloves that enhance thermal comfort as assessed by skin temperature, sweat rate, manual dexterity and perceived comfort. Three multiple-layered glove systems were sequentially designed and tested under simulated environmental conditions in a controlled laboratory chamber. Artificial-cooling and a liner were successful in reducing skin temperature and perceived moisture-related discomfort. Manual dexterity was hampered… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
