“…Abdominal compression with 4D-CT have also been used to reduce respiratory motion 19,21,50,52 as has respiratory gating 29,32,41 and intra-fraction tracking of peri-tumoral implanted fiducials 22,30,34,42,48 or external surface markers 20,22,30,43,48 (which requires daily imaging to ensure the adopted breathing model remains satisfactory). Free breathing with 4D-CT, with individualised margins to account for respiration, have also been employed 23 .…”

“…A higher rate of SAEs (11% versus 5%) was also associated with RFA in this study. A further retrospective study found equivalent 1‐year local control rates (97%) but an increase in late SAEs in the SBRT group . Taken together, these studies suggest a need for randomized studies comparing SBRT with RFA in this setting.…”

“…Historically, the role of radiation therapy for HCC has been limited by the risk of radiation‐induced liver damage. A large volume of evidence published in the last several years argues that SBRT can be effective in HCC and liver metastasis . However, little has been reported on the efficacy and safety of SBRT in elderly patients.…”
