“…The most popular root-canal obturation method is cold lateral compaction of the guttapercha [7]. However, despite its popularity, the porosity of the laterally compacted guttapercha/sealer fillings is relatively high in comparison to the other obturation techniques, especially in curved root canals [9]. Similar results have been shown by Gupta et al (2015), demonstrating the worse homogeneity and a higher porosity of the laterally condensed gutta-percha fillings in comparison to thermoplastic obturation methods [10].…”

“…Notably, OCT in the realm of endodontics has demonstrated superior results compared to computed microtomography, especially in visualizing empty spaces concerning apical filling. 48 Furthermore, it has shed light on PBM's potential application in cell regeneration within endodontic treatments. 49 The orange thematic cluster "Diode Laser" stands out as the second most relevant in the study of PBM.…”

“…The frequency-domain devices are of two types as well, spectral OCT and swept source OCT, based on the receiving compartments and output properties. The swept source OCT uses ultrahigh speed (kilohertz wavelength, center wavelength 1300 nm) laser beam which enhances the sensitivity of the system, penetration depth, resolution of the system, and scanning rate (1 second or less imaging speed), resulting in a shorter acquisition time [ 31 , 34 37 ]. In the swept source OCT, the axial and transverse resolutions are determined by linewidth of the laser beam and focus spot size, respectively [ 23 ].…”
