Abstract: SummaryOur previous studies have suggested that there is minimal fecal excretion of carbohydrate‐derived energy in premature infants fed lactose or glucose‐polymer as the source of carbohydrate. In these studies, carbohydrate energy excretion was equated with the non‐nitrogenous, nonfat energy.
