“…However, this potential advantage had no clinical implication because it did not result in improved ventilation in this group and airway pressure was easily maintained below sealing pressure in all patients. Our results are in agreement with those of Paech et al [13], Tan et al [21], Cook et al [18], and Francksen et al [22], who reported a better airway seal with the Soft Seal than the LMA Unique. In contrast, Brimacombe et al [16] found no differences in leak pressure between the Soft Seal and the LMA Unique in paralyzed patients.…”

“…Moreover, ease of insertion was better with the Ambu LM and LMA Unique than with the Solus or Soft Seal. Francksen et al [22] also found that the Ambu LM was quicker to insert than the LMA Unique or Soft Seal, but no differences were found regarding success rate.…”

“…In this study, insertion of the LMU on the first attempt was successful for 78.7% of dentulous patients and 60.6% of edentulous patients. Previous studies on the LMU have reported firstattempt insertion success rates of 88%-100% (5,11,(22)(23)(24)(25). Compared to our study, these higher success rates might have been related to the use of muscle relaxants during LMU insertion.…”

“…Since the introduction of the original laryngeal mask airway, many other supraglottic airways have been described and numerous published studies have compared these different devices [9][10][11][12]. This study demonstrates that the clinical performance of the LTS and the PLMA are similar with regard to oxygenation and ventilation and that both devices can be effectively and safely used in minor elective surgeries for mechanical ventilation of the patients.…”
