Comparison of imaging parameters between OCT, GDx and HRT in the Northern Finland birth cohort eye study

Abstract: Purpose: The purpose of the study was to assess and compare the optic nerve head (ONH) and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) parameters and image quality parameters obtained by Cirrus HD-OCT, GDxECC and HRT3 in a populationbased screening study. Methods: This analysis examined 2566 subjects taking part in the Northern Finland Birth Cohort Eye study. Images with spectral domain OCT (Cirrus HD-OCT 4000), scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (HRT3) and scanning laser polarimetry (GDxECC) were obtained from each subject. … Show more

“…Furthermore, the application of OCT in measuring RNFL thickness at a few micrometers enables us to precisely and promptly evaluate therapeutic effects on intracranial hypertension(8, 9). Cirrus spectral domain high de nition (HD)-OCT 4000 has since 2007 been used as a diagnostic device in macula and RNFL (10,11). The model was upgraded into Cirrus 5000 in 2012 to take advantage of fast scan speed to enhance work ow e ciency and a fast tracker to compensate for blinking and eye movements (12,13).…”
