This study aims to comparatively analyse the importance and performance of the health of Korean and Japanese adolescents during the prolonged coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Data were collected from 1,341 sampled Korean and Japanese adolescents in September 2021 through online and offline surveys. The collected data were analysed with frequency analysis, reliability testing, t-test, and importance-performance analysis (IPA). The following results were obtained. First, adolescents in the two countries perceive various factors about health as important during the COVID-19 pandemic, but their performance is weak compared to their perceived importance. Second, Korean adolescents had greater perceived importance for all factors of health perception compared to their Japanese counterparts. Third, the difference in performance between Korean and Japanese adolescents was especially evident for ‘hygiene management’, and there were significant differences in performance in ‘disease management’ and ‘physical activity’. Fourth, in quadrant 4 of the IPA matrix, there were similarities and differences in a particular factor of health perception between Korean and Japanese adolescents. Based on these results, we proposed measures to emphasise the importance of health and enhance performance among Korean and Japanese adolescents.

Through understanding the current situation of middle school students' health information literacy, explore the relationship between middle school students' health information literacy and COVID-19 infection, and provide information for epidemic response and epidemic reflection. [Methods/Process] On the basis of convenient sampling, a cluster questionnaire survey was conducted among 1268 middle school students in a town level middle school in Henan Province. Regression analysis was used to study the relationship between middle school students' health information literacy and COVID-19 infection. [Results/Conclusion] The reporting rates of middle school students who were not "positive", the first "positive", the second "positive", and those who had symptoms but did not undergo COVID-19 nucleic acid monitoring were 32.93% (413), 55.58% (697), 1.99% (25), and 9.49% (119), respectively. After adjusting the factors of grade, whether there are basic diseases, monthly income, parents' educational level, average accumulated daily sleep (including noon nap) time (hours) and daily exercise (including walking) time (hours) after the full liberalization of the COVID-19, it can be concluded that compared with high-level health information literacy, low-level health information literacy is not "positive" (OR=1.676,95% CI=1.038-2.705, and first "positive" symptoms (OR=2.147, 95% CI=1.357-3.399); while medium level of health information literacy had a higher relative risk for "first positive" symptoms (OR= 1.994,95%CI=1.113-3.572). Middle school students' health information literacy is related to COVID-19. Middle school students need to improve their personal health information literacy to achieve health promotion and promote the construction of a healthy power.

This study aimed to analyze health management awareness among South Korean elementary school students in COVID-19 endemic areas. Methods. Using convenience sampling, 675 South Korean elementary school students (age 11–12 years old) were selected as participants in July 2023. Data for the study were collected via online and offline surveys between July and August 2023. The collected data were subjected to frequency, reliability, and multicollinearity analyses, independent sample t-tests, and importance-performance analysis (IPA). Results. The findings indicated the following: (1) There was no significant difference in health management performance between male and female children. (2) Children who had not experienced COVID-19 infection, had a higher level of “hygiene management” performance. (3) Among children who did not wear masks during physical activity, “mental health management” and “physical activity management” performance were higher, while “hygiene management” performance was lower. (4) The IPA matrix analysis revealed that, compared to the COVID-19 pandemic period, “physical activity management”, “dietary habit management”, and “sleep management” still required improvement, while “hygiene management” and “disease management” appeared to have decreased due to the relaxation of epidemic control efforts. Conclusion. As per the study’s findings, schools, local communities, and families should make efforts to develop and implement preventive and individualized health management programs that consider the individual characteristics of their children.
