Comparison of full-night and ambulatory polysomnography with ApneaGraph in the subjects with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome

Abstract: The localization of the obstruction is crucial in determining the appropriate surgical treatment for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS); ApneaGraph has been introduced for diagnosis of OSAS and localization of airway obstruction level. This study aims to evaluate the diagnostic value of ApneaGraph for both clinical staging and site of obstruction. Thirty male OSAS patients were prospectively enrolled in this clinical trial. The following parameter were included to the study: Body mass indexes and neck cir… Show more

“…A good correlation between Apnea Graph and polysomnography measurements for apnea-hypopnea index, pulse, SaO2, body position and central apnea was established. (13) The specified study showed differences between the two methods for apnea index (р=0,002), hypopnea index (р=0,013), mixed apnea (р=0,003) and obstructive apnea (р=0,013). Apnea Graph proved a pure upper airway obstruction in 2 cases, while six patients had a predominance of lower obstruction.…”

“…There are several key differences between this study and prior evaluations of upper airway manometry, [24][25][26][29][30][31] primarily in its ability to map complex pressure patterns to the VOTE classification, a system readily understood by sleep surgeons. From a technical perspective, our HRM Standard deviations are given in parentheses.…”
