“…Recently, Cu-based catalysts obtained from LDH precursors were investigated in CO 2 hydrogenation [11,12] as well as low temperature shift reactions [13] and methanol oxidation [14]. In a previous study [15] we presented a Cu-based catalyst with a high intrinsic activity in methanol synthesis obtained from Cu,Zn,Al LDH precursors.…”

“…Several studies of synthesis of very useful multicationic Cu-containing LDH as catalyst precursors have indeed confirmed that pure crystallographic LDH phases were obtained in wide ranges of M 2+ /M 3+ atomic ratios with M 2+ = Cu 2+ , Ni 2+ , Co 2+ , Zn 2+ , Mg 2+ and M 3+ = Al 3+ and/or Fe 3+ , and at varying co-precipitation pHs. Marchi et al, 2003;Trujillano et al, 2005;Raciulete et al, 2014;Li et al, 2015;Zhang et al, 2017;Lucarelli et al, 2018;Said et al, 2018;Lu et al, 2019) That confirms the versatility of copper to form LDH phases in systems combining several divalent and/or trivalent cations and suggests that the Jahn-Teller effect in Cu-Al LDH was cleverly overpassed by separating Cu cations in the brucite-like layers of multicationic LDH. Then, in addition to insights into the mechanism of formation, a relevant objective of the present work was to obtain pure Cu-Al LDH phase through the direct colloidal synthesis route from HPIC micelles.…”

“…1) of the reference MgAl-LDH sample shows typical pattern of hydrotalcite-like materials, with diffraction lines indexed on a hexagonal unit cell with the space group R-3 m [27]. The sharp and symmetric diffraction lines at 2 of 11.4, 22.8 and 34.6 • , assigned to (003), (006) and (009) planes [28], indicate a well-formed crystalline layered structure. The basal spacing distance d 003 , determined from the position of the (003) reflection is 7.77 Å and corresponds to carbonate as compensating anion.…”
