Comparison of Conventional and Microwave Assisted Reactions Giving Aromatic Oxazolidines.

Abstract: Oxazolidines. -Thermal or microwave-assisted reaction of aromatic aldehydes with (-)-ephedrine (I) provides 1,3-oxazolidines as a mixture of diastereomers. The most striking difference in the stereoisomeric ratio of the products obtained according to conventional or microwave-assisted experiments is observed in the case of aromatic aldehydes substituted with electron-withdrawing groups. -(DIWISCHEK, F.; HELLER, E.; HOLZGRABE*, U.; Monatsh.
