Comparison of CDMA tele-traffic models

Abstract

In this paper, using discrete event stochastic simulation by batch-means, new results have been obtained by comparing the tele-traffic models commonly used to analyze the capacity of the CDMA system. The traffic capacity of independent M/M/oo cells and homogeneous system of cells are compared. The results indicate that at low blocking probabilities (up to 3% ifshadowing included and up to 5% without shadowing), the two system models have up to 5% difference in traffic capacity while at high blocking probability of 10% there can be as much as 15% difference in the Erlang capacity ofthe CDMA system depending on which model is being used.
