Comparison of apical debris extrusion during root canal preparation in primary molars using different file systems: an in vitro study

Abstract: This study aimed to compare the amount of debris extrusion of four endodontic systems made of Nickle‐Titanium alloy. This in vitro study was done on 80 extracted primary molars. They were selected by cone‐beam computed tomography and randomly divided into four groups (n = 20) to be prepared to the apical size of 25 by one of the systems: Reciproc, Protaper Universal, Neolix, or Hyflex CM. Debris was collected into Eppendorf microtubes and placed in an incubator to evaporate the washing solution. Debris was wei… Show more

“…Regarding the sample included in the studies obtained ( Table 1 and Table 2 ), most of them analyzed an average of 30 teeth [ 10 , 11 ]. Highlighting Mohammadi, D [ 12 ], with a maximum of 80, and Moraes [ 13 ] with a minimum of 1. Regarding the variables analyzed, and considering the length of the files, the longest were those used by Gekelman [ 14 ], with a length 25 mm, and the shortest, 15 mm, used by Mohammadi [ 12 ].…”

It should be noted that the mean length used in most studies was 21 mm [ 15 ].…”

“…[ 1 ] Endodontic procedures primarily involve the treatment of dental pulp and periapical tissues within the tooth, and precise diagnosis is pivotal for effective management. [ 2 ] Historically, two-dimensional radiography, including periapical and panoramic radiographs, has been the standard imaging modality for assessing endodontic conditions. [ 3 ] However, the limitations of conventional radiography, such as the superimposition of anatomical structures and the inability to provide a three-dimensional view, have prompted the exploration of alternative imaging techniques.…”
