A busca por processos de tratamento de efluentes que sejam eficientes e garantam a segurança à saúde pública e ao meio ambiente tem sido um grande desafio nas últimas décadas, devido à presença de microrganismos persistentes e micropoluentes orgânicos e inorgânicos que resistem aos tratamentos convencionais. Assim, as tecnologias alternativas de tratamento de efluentes vêm sendo aplicadas em associação aos tratamentos primários e secundários, para alcançar maiores reduções da carga de poluentes, utilizando menor espaço físico e consumo de energia elétrica, bem como menor produção de lodo. Neste trabalho, buscou-se realizar um estudo da arte através de uma revisão dos métodos físicos e químicos para o tratamento de efluentes: membranas de filtração, eletrocoagulação, adsorção, troca iônica, processos oxidativos avançados, ozonização e precipitação química, considerando o princípio de funcionamento suas vantagens, desvantagens e aplicações de cada técnica.

As a distributed energy source, open-pit mine solar photothermal-photoelectric membrane distillation can convert solar energy into heat and electrical energy to provide power for membrane distillation water purification system. In mine sewage treatment, the solar membrane distillation system has the advantages of high desalination rate, good water quality and low cost. However, this system has not been widely promoted and applied because of its high energy consumption and low membrane flux. Different operating parameters have a greater impact on the operating efficiency of the solar membrane distillation system. In this study, a natural cooling film distillation system was built, and the response surface method was used to analyze it, and a multi-objective optimization algorithm was used to optimize the operating conditions and improve the energy efficiency of the system. In our experiment, the hot end feed temperature, hot end feed flow rate, cold end cooling water flow rate, and membrane area were used as variables, and the membrane flux, thermal efficiency, and energy consumption values were investigated as target values. We used a support vector machine (SVM) with improved fitting, and substituted the fitting prediction model into the response surface method for the relationship between the variable and the target value collaborative analysis was followed by substituting the model into a non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II (NSGA-II). After the optimization operation, the optimal working conditions were obtained to improve the operating efficiency of the solar membrane distillation system, which will enable open-pit mine prosumers to realize intelligent management of solar energy generation, storage and consumption simultaneously.

<div> <div> <div> <p>The desalination of brackish water provides water to tens of millions of people around the world, but current technologies deplete much needed nutrients from the water, which is detrimental to both public health and agriculture. A selective method for brackish water desalination, which retains the needed nutrients, is electrodialysis (ED) using monovalent-selective cation exchange membranes (MVS-CEMs). However, due to the trade-off between membrane selectivity and resistance, most MVS-CEMs demonstrate either high transport resistance or low selectivity, which increase energy consumption and hinder the use of such membranes for brackish water desalination by ED. Here, we used molecular layer deposition (MLD) to uniformly coat CEMs with ultrathin layers of alucone. The positive surface charge of the alucone instills monovalent selectivity in the CEM. Using MLD enabled us to precisely control and minimize the selective layer thickness, while the flexibility and nanoporosity of the alucone prevent cracking and delamination. Under conditions simulating brackish water desalination, this compound provides monovalent selectivity with negligible added resistance—the smallest reported resistance for a monovalent-selective layer, to date—thereby alleviating the selectivity–resistance trade-off. Addressing the water–energy nexus, we show that using these membranes in ED will cut at least half of the energy required for selective brackish water desalination with current MVS-CEMs. </p> </div> </div> </div>
