Comparison of air kerma measurements between the PTB and the IAEA for x-radiation qualities used in general diagnostic radiology and mammography

Abstract: A comparison of the air kerma standards for x-radiation qualities used in general diagnostic radiology and mammography, identified as EURAMET.RI(I)-S10 (EURAMET project #1221), was performed between the PTB and the IAEA. Two spherical and two parallel-plate reference-class ionization chambers of the IAEA and 12 beam qualities standardized in the IEC standard 61267:2005 plus additional 7 standard beam qualities established at both laboratories were selected for the comparison. The calibration coefficients were … Show more

“…Uncertainty of the air kerma rate determination with the PK100 was 0.3%, uncertainty on monitor normalization was 0.1%, and uncertainty on beam nonuniformity was 0.1%. 36 Uncertainty of the calibration in terms of D w was 1.1%, 0.9%, 0.8%, 0.7%, 0.7%, and 0.6% for T70, T100, T150, T200, T250, and T 280, respectively. 37 Reproducibility of measurements at the 90 Sr source has been estimated to be 0.6%, and this uncertainty has been assigned to current measurements at the 90 Sr source.…”
