“…Smith et al [23] developed a classical model of a pulsed INOPO operating inside a ring cavity and compared this to experimental results, finding reasonable agreement with their predictions for spatial beam quality, spectral performance and beam profiles. The ability to efficiently generate tunable frequencies in the mid infrared via injection seeding was demonstrated by Haidar and Ito [24], who also showed a noticeable narrowing of the signal linewidth due to the injection.…”

“…Tunable lasers based on optical parametric oscillation with nonlinear crystals are of greatest interest. Nd pulse lasers are conventionally used as a source of parametric oscillator pumping, while nonlinear crystals (NLC) KNbO 3 , LiNbO 3 , KTP, KTA, etc. [1] serve for frequency conversion.…”

“…At present the feature analysis of extra-cavity OPO with LiNbO 3 resulted in a quantity of optical schemes [2][3][4][5][6][7]. The study of basic linear networks of OPO cavities [3,4] has shown that at satisfactory energy indictors the oscillator's divergence angle is rather high and runs up at the pumping energy increase.…”

“…Inspired by recent developments in high performance injection-seeded nanosecond OPOs 1,2,16,[22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30] combined with remarkable improvements in the tunability and long-term stability of diode lasers, our approach uses a mid-IR OPO, where FT-limited pulses can be readily obtained by injection seeding with a low power SLM diode laser. Subsequently, frequency upconversion is accomplished by mixing the mid-IR OPO output with the fourth harmonic of an injectionseeded Nd:yttrium aluminum garnet ͑YAG͒ laser, which is concurrently used to pump the OPO with the residual second harmonic.…”
