Comparison between Gutta-Percha and Resin-Coated Gutta-Percha using Different Obturation Techniques

Abstract: It can be concluded that the resin-coated GP/EndoREZ® sealer is superior to the gutta-percha/AH Plus in the percentage of core filling material.

“…200 In comparison, the obturation quality of resin-coated EUR is superior with different obturation techniques (cold lateral compaction (CLC), warm lateral compaction (WLC), and single cone (SC)). 186 The percentages of resin-coated EUR canal filling material are 100% under warm lateral compaction. Therefore, the resin-coated EUR canal filling material is a good choice to obturate the canal space.…”

“…The cross-linked EUR phase considerably improved the permanent deformation of POE, and the tensile set linearly decreased from 134% to 4% with increasing EUR content. In addition, Xia et al prepared a series of SMPs using thermoplastics materials and EUR as a matrix. The EUR-based SMP has water and thermal response properties. , The EUR/microcrystalline cellulose (EUR/MCC) SMPs showed excellent multiresponsive properties under water and thermal stimulation conditions (Figure b). When the EUR/MCC ratio was 6/4, the EUR/MCC 6/4 SMP presented excellent water/heat double-stimulus shape memory properties ( R f = 95.02%, R r = 90.45%) .…”

“…There are various techniques for obturating the root canal system such as cold and warm lateral compaction, continuous and interrupted waves of vertical compaction, thermo-mechanical compaction, carrier-based techniques and single cone techniques. [1][2][3] Mustaffa M a* , Nordin N b , Embong SNH b , Mohd Ibrahim MS c accepted as a current approach in obturating the root canal system. The obturation quality has been studied by many researchers in aspects of the presence of marginal gaps and voids.…”

“…The obturation quality has been studied by many researchers in aspects of the presence of marginal gaps and voids. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Marginal gaps are defined as a discontinuity at the interface made of two different materials while voids are defined as the vacant area surrounded by the same materials. 5 During obturation procedure, the extrusion of root filling material beyond the apical foramen is sometimes inevitable, especially in patent root canal terminus.…”

“…The evaluation of obturation quality in molars has been the subject of interest that has gained popularity in the recent years [19,[26][27][28]. In the past, the obturation quality has been evaluated in the incisors [29][30][31][32] and premolars [9,[33][34][35][36][37][38], however, changing approaches reflect the need to evaluate the effectiveness of obturation procedures in more complex root canal systems such as multirooted teeth with various root canal configurations and curvatures.…”
