AimsThis study aimed to examine differences in xenophobia, prosocial behavior tendency, and sociodemographic characteristics among nursing students.Materials & MethodsThe participants were 227 nursing students (29.1% male, 70.9% female) attending the nursing department in the spring semester of the 2019–2020 academic year. We used a personal identification form, xenophobia scale, and prosocial behavior tendency scale to collect the data.ResultsAmong the participants, 24.7% were in first year, 30.4% were in second year, 21.6% were in third year, and 23.3% were in fourth year. Female students had higher prosocial behavior disposition, altruistic, and submissive scores than their male counterparts. The second‐year students’ prosocial behavior scores were higher than those of the third‐year students. The male students’ hatred, humiliation, and xenophobia scores were higher than those of the female students.DiscussionThe xenophobia scores were higher in those with two living parents and lower in those whose mothers had secondary education. We used the Kolmogorov–Smirnov test, Shapiro–Wilk test, and graphical assessments to test the quantitative data's compliance with normal distribution. We also employed the Student's t‐test and one‐way analysis of variance for data showing a normal distribution and Mann–Whitney U and Kruskal–Wallis tests for data showing non‐normal distribution. To evaluate the relationships among variables, we used the Pearson correlation analysis for normally distributed variables and Spearman's correlation analysis for non‐normally distributed variables.ConclusionWomen's prosocial behavior tendency total score was higher than men's, and men's xenophobia total score was higher than women's. There was a weak negative correlation between the positive behavior tendency and xenophobia total scores.

This working paper provides a conceptual framework for measuring the attractiveness of OECD regions. First, it presents the imperative for rethinking regional attractiveness in the context of global shocks and trends and their regionalised consequences and opportunities. Then, it presents a new framework through which to look at territorial levers for attracting investors, talent and visitors, and where those policy goals can overlap. Various tools, as well a dashboard comprising 55 indicators, are produced which policy-makers can leverage to better understand their strengths and gaps in terms of attractiveness towards international targets.

Population ageing and low birth rates are two problems of the EU that have an impact on employment, production, and economic growth. Against this background, immigration, health expenditure, and the health of migrants must become a key element of European policy. For this reason, this paper focused on identifying the effect of immigration, health, and ageing on economic growth in order to highlight their importance from an economic perspective. We constructed different econometric models with Eurostat data for 27 countries and 13 years (2008–2020), whose dependent variable was gross domestic product. Independent variables were the number of immigrants by gender and age, health expenditure per capita (total and by function), immigrants’ perception of their health as very good, and the proportion of the population aged 65 years and over. The model selected to analyze the results was Prais–Winsten regression heteroskedastic panels corrected standard errors modeled by applying the option (ar1) to correct for autocorrelation, using Stata software (version 16). The results show that health expenditure has a significant positive effect on economic growth, higher in hospital services, followed by medical products; immigrants’ perception as very good is only significant in some models. The number of immigrants has a (positive) effect, although less significant than public expenditure on health. Its effect is larger when the immigrant is aged between 15 and 64 years and smaller for male immigrants than for female immigrants. Without the ageing variable, immigration is not significant. Moreover, there are significant differences between European countries in relation to the variables analyses (immigration, immigrants’ perception of their health, ageing and public expenditure on health, and public expenditure on health according to function). This may be due to the different regulations on both immigration and public health in the countries that make up the European Union.
