“…When selecting a measure defini proportion of days in a measurement period that patients have their prescribed medication on hand. [26][27][28][29] These measures are highly correlated with other methods of measuring adherence. 30 Concurrent adherence measures build on these individual measures, calculating a PDC that reflects all medications that patients are prescribed for use together.…”

“…8,16,[18][19]29,40 First, we counted days supplied over the full study year as the sum of days supplied for each fill for a drug in each oral antidiabetic class, plus any days remaining from previous year fills, truncated at year end. We counted medication switches within the same class (e.g., from a branded to a generic or from one generic to another) as medication use within that class.…”

“…53 Despite this effi cacy data, adherence to oral bisphosphonates remains poor, with 12-month adherence estimated to be approximately 60%. 54 Although osteonecrosis of the jaw is a well publicised adverse effect associated with the bisphosphonates, it is rare (incidence rate: <1 in 10,000/patient-treatment years), particularly within the context of those receiving oral bisphosphonates for osteoporosis. 55 Good oral hygiene, regular dental checkups and heightened care when undergoing periodontal procedures may help prevent this complication.…”

“…4 Persistence with OAB medication has been found to be lower than for oral antidiabetics, statins, angiotensin receptor blockers, bisphosphonates or prostaglandins. 5 Importantly, most of the discontinuations occur within the first two months of treatment. 5 The most common reasons patients give for discontinuing therapy are that they don't like being on any medications, they don't like taking medications for too long, they learned to get by without medication, the drug didn't work as expected, or side effects were a problem.…”
