Comparativo dos índices de competitividade dos destinos turísticos da Rota das Emoções

Abstract

The National Tourism Competitiveness Index was a survey carried out between 2008 and 2015 by the Ministry of Tourism. Among the destinations surveyed, there are three on the Route of Emotions: the cities of Barreirinhas (MA), Parnaíba (PI) and Jijoca de Jericoacoara (CE). The Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, the Delta do Parnaíba Environmental Protection Area and the Jericoacoara National Park are the main tourist attractions of these destinations. Bearing in mind the economic importance of tourism for the development of this region, this work aimed to compare the evolution of the competitiveness indices of these destinations, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of each one, in addition to comparing them with the Brazilian average. For that, a bibliographical research was carried out in reports and databases published by the Ministry of Tourism. As a result, it was identified that although some destinations on the Route of Emotions have stood out positively in some dimensions when compared to each other, the comparison with the national average shows that, with the exception of the dimensions environmental aspects and regional cooperation, all the others presented lower results, pointing to the need for more effective public policies to promote the competitiveness of these destinations.
