Comparative transcriptome analysis reveals evolutionary divergence and shared network of cold and salt stress response in diploid D-genome cotton

Abstract: Background Wild species of cotton are excellent resistance to abiotic stress. Diploid D-genome cotton showed abundant phenotypic diversity and was the putative donor species of allotetraploid cotton which produce the largest textile natural fiber. Results A total of 41,053 genes were expressed in all samples by mapping RNA-seq Illumina reads of G. thurberi (D1), G. klotzschianum (D3-k), G. raimondii (D5) and G. trilobum (D8) to reference genome. The numbers of differently expressed genes (DEGs) were significa… Show more

“…However, four major modules were most strongly correlated with each of the four genomes, suggesting these highly co-expressed genes were species specific. This study evidenced the presence of evolutionary divergence and the potential shared network of cold and salt response among four related species [16].…”

“…The expression pattern of GHβCAs in cotton under abiotic and biotic stresses was analyzed by downloading the G. hirsutum transcriptome data under abiotic stress from the NCBI (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/), whereas the data for GthβCAs was obtained from our previously published paper (Xu et al, 2020, Dong et al, 2019).…”

“…RALFL33 in cotton is likely to be a key gene regulating cold and salt stress. Through comparative transcriptome analysis and gene evolution analysis on four kinds of diploid D-genome cotton, Xu, et al ( 2020 ) discovered a potential regulatory network centered on RALFL33. In moss Physcomitrium patens , Pp RALF3 is not involved in promoting protonema tip growth and elongation (Ginanjar, et al 2022 ).…”
