Comparative Study of the Effectiveness of sub mucosal Partial Inferior Turbinectomy and Out fracture of Inferior Turbinate in the Nasal Respiratory Function of Rhinoplasty Patients

Abstract: IntroductionThe inferior turbinate is a critical and dynamic structure during rhinoplasty in the internal valve. Many surgeons try to preventively reduce its resistance against the path in the post-rhinoplasty period. To this end, the two methods of “sub mucosal partial inferior turbinectomy” and “inferior turbinate out fracture” are compared in the present study.MethodsIn this clinical study, 110 rhinoplasty candidates were randomly divided into two groups, namely sub mucosal partial inferior turbinectomy and… Show more

“…The procedures practised include total turbinectomy, turbinoplasty, partial inferior turbinectomy, sub mucosal resection, cryosurgery, laser assisted turbinoplasty, and electrocautery with monopolar or bipolar techniques. [7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14] Partial inferior turbinectomy is performed with an aim to remove nasal obstruction trying to preserve some portion of turbinate to maintain physiological function of turbinates. 15,16 In our study, we compared conventional inferior turbinectomy and endoscopic inferior turbinoplasty.…”

“…Currently, strategies like spreaders grafts, support grafts, reconstruction or repositioning cartilages and even a good septoplasty are used to enlarge the nasal valve [2][3][4][5][6]. Another technique widely used is the Reduction of the inferior turbinate [3,[7][8][9]. Otherwise, an established technique to reduce turbinate with hypertrophy is still debatable [10][11][12][13].…”

“…12 while Omranifard's findings show that both outfracture of the inferior turbinate and submucosal partial inferior turbinectomy are effective strategies for improving respiratory function. 13 While research on surgical techniques to reduce ITH has grown, there is still a lack of comprehensive data comparing their results. Therefore, our main objective was to investigate postoperative outcomes, including complications and subjective improvements, related to different surgical approaches for inferior turbinate reduction in an epidemiological cross-sectional study.…”
