Comparative study of four retentive anchor systems for implant supported overdentures – retention force changes

Abstract: Attachment systems which possess a male and female component of different material composition are preferable. They show smaller changes in the retention force. For retention force increase and wear compensation, an attachment system should be adjustable.

“…Furthermore, it is still debatable which type of material is less subjective to wear and allows maintaining constant retention of prosthesis. Few studies have investigated retentive force changes of resilient attachments during fatigue simulation [23][24][25] . However, there is little known about the relationship between retention loss, dimensional changes and surface wear patterns of these attachments 26) .…”

“…The decrease was statistically significant. A retention force decrease was also documented by different in vitro studies of retentive elements [3,15,29]. For the clinically found retention force decrease of telescopic crowns, there are only a few data.…”

“…For the purpose of oral rehabilitation of the partially edentulous dentition, different attachment systems can be used for the retention of combined fixed-partial dentures [1][2][3][4][5]. Telescopic crowns [6][7][8][9] as well as conical crowns [6,[10][11][12] are universally established and widely spread for this indication.…”

“…Os enxaguatórios C e L propiciaram médias similares (10,41 e 10,09, respectivamente) à AD (10,91). O CF propiciou resistência similar (9,14) aos enxaguatórios C e L. No C e no HS a retenção diminuiu significativamente a partir de 30 dias. No L e no CF, a diminuição da retenção ocorreu após 60 dias.…”
