“…It is similar to hot-pressing which is carried out in a graphite die, but the heating is accomplished by spark discharges in void between particles generated by an instantaneous pulsed direct current applied through electrodes at the top and bottom punches of the graphite die. Due to these discharges, the particle surface is activated and purified, and a self-heat phenomenon is generated between the particles, thus the heattransfer and mass-transfer can be completed instantaneously, (Perera et al, 1998). SPS use heating and sintering temperature at 1000-1800 ºC, at a heating rate of 500-600 ºC/min under a pressure of 40-60 MPa and than fast cooling to 600 ºC/2-3min.…”

“…The dense sintered HAp was fabricated by a conventional method 36,37 and a post sintering method 38 . Pulse electric current sintering (PECS) has been applied to the fabrication of sintered bodies, such as SiC, Al 2 O 3 and Si 3 N 4 [42][43][44] . The sintered HAp was also fabricated by the PECS method at different temperatures from 700 °C to 1200 °C [33][34][35] .…”
