“…50 One double-blind RCT ( n = 546) 51 showed low-level laser therapy (wavelength 904 nm; frequency 5000 Hz; and power density of 20 mW/cm 2 ) plus nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) was more effective than sham low-level laser therapy plus NSAIDs on pain ( P < .0005, Cohen effect size 0.78) and disability ( P < .0001, Cohen effect size 0.26) in patients with acute LBP (Level of Evidence II). Another double-blind RCT ( n = 65) 52 found that low-level laser therapy plus drug therapy was more effective for improving pain and disability than drug therapy alone in acute LBP patients (Level of Evidence II). We recommend selecting low-level laser therapy for acute LBP (Level of Evidence II, B).…”

“…LLLT has been applied to the treatment of chronic or acute pain, with accumulating evidence of safety and efficacy. As a result, some reports have shown that LLLT can relieve rheumatoid arthritis pain, morning stiffness, and chronic and acute back pain with few side effects [ 16 18 ]. However, the efficacy of LLLT varies from disease to disease.…”
