Abstract: Summary The role of hyaluronic acid (HA) as a ‘physiologic selector’ is also well recognized in vitro: it has been demonstrated that spermatozoa that bind to immobilized HA in vitro are those having completed their plasma membrane remodelling, and cytoplasmic and meiotic maturation.
