Comparative RNA-seq analysis reveals a critical role for ethylene in rose (Rosa hybrida) susceptible response to Podosphera pannosa

Abstract: Rose is one of the most important ornamental flowers, accounting for approximately one-third of the world’s cut flower market. Powdery mildew caused by Podosphera pannosa is a devastating fungal disease in rose, mainly infecting the young leaves and causing serious economic losses. Therefore, a study on the mechanism of the fungus infecting the rose leaves and the possibility to improve resistance hereby is interesting and meaningful. Accordingly, we conducted transcriptome sequencing of rose leaves infected b… Show more

“…Six RNA samples (three biological replicates for each stage) were sent to Beijing Novogene Bioinformatics Technology Co., Ltd (http:// www.novogene.com/) for RNA-seq analysis. The RNA-seq data were processed as described previously (Liu et al, 2022). Clean sequencing reads were aligned using a reference genome sequence (Rosa chinensis Old Blush; https://lipm-browsers.toulouse.inra.fr/ pub/RchiOBHm-V2/).…”

“…In recent years, the development of high-throughput sequencing, and other “-omics” studies are providing new insights into the molecular mechanisms of plant defense against viruses and other pathogens ( Chen et al, 2017 ; Awika et al, 2019 ; Liu et al, 2022 ). In soybean, the genes involved in SA (salicylic acid) signaling and members of the NBS-LRR (nucleotide binding site leucine-rich repeat) family were involved in SMV pathogenicity ( Zhao et al, 2018 ).…”
