Abstract:Purpose of reviewSuccessful awake intubation hinges upon adequate airway anesthesia and sedation for patient comfort. This review will summarize relevant anatomy and regional anesthesia techniques to achieve airway anesthesia, and compare various airway anesthesia and sedation regimens.
