Comparative performance evaluation of routing algorithm and topology size for wireless network-on-chip

Abstract: Wireless Network-on-Chip or WiNoC is an alternative to traditional planar on-chip networks. On-chip wireless links are utilized to reduce latency between distant nodes due to its capability to communicate with far-away node within a single hop. This paper analyzes the impact of various routing schemes and the effect of WiNoC sizes on network traffic distributions compared to conventional mesh NoC. Radio hubs (4×4) are evenly placed on WiNoC to analyze global average delay, throughput, energy consumption and wi… Show more

“…The synthesis report shows that the proposed design operates at a high frequency of 396 megahertz (MHz) with fewer slice registers than a direct implementation. DTCWT filters [35], which comprise real and imaginary filters are also implemented on FPGA [36], and a synthesis report is evaluated. The synthesis report identifies and compares the slice registers, LUTs, power, and maximum frequency of operation data with references.…”

“…Two categories of routing protocols are available. These are proactive and reactive protocols [14][15][16][17]. The variance between them is, the reactive routing protocols are determining the route when a packet is required to be forwarded, while, the proactive routing protocols are determining the route periodically.…”
