Comparative Numerical Aerodynamics Performance Analysis of NACA0015 and NACA4415 Airfoils

Abstract: The climate crisis caused by global greenhouse gas emissions has led to many disasters around the world in recent years. Some of these disasters are floods in various parts of Europe, melting of Arctic glaciers, and rising water levels in the oceans. People living on islands in Southeast Asian countries are forced to migrate due to rising water levels. With the increase in the frequency of such situations, life on earth is at risk. Greenhouse gas emissions harm not only humans but also animals and plants. The … Show more

“…During the solving process, in addition to monitoring the residuals of the variables, lift coefficient (C L ), and drag coefficient (C D ) must also be tracked to ensure true convergence of the solution. The convergence criteria for all calculations are residuals less than 1 × 10 −5 [24,25].…”

“…The y+, which means the mesh fineness in the area close to the wall, indicates the sensitivity of the created mesh file. As the sensitivity of the y+ value increases, the accuracy of the results obtained from the CFD analysis also increases [22]. In this study, the y+ value has been determined as 0.6.…”

“…The main reason for the widespread use of the CFD method is that it saves time and money. The CFD method, which eliminates the necessity of setting up an experimental setup for any scientific study, is frequently used both in academia and in the sector [7]. Nabutola and Boetcher investigated the effect of underbody flow deflection of conventional and air-jet wheel deflectors on vehicle drag in their study using the CFD method.…”
