Comparative gene expression analysis in melanocytes driven by tumor cell-derived exosomes

Abstract: Abundant with organelle-like membranous structures, the tumor microenvironment is composed of cancer cells that secrete exosomes. Studies have shown that these secreted exosomes transport RNA and active molecules to other cells to reshape the tumor microenvironment and promote tumor growth. In fact, we found that exosomes derived from melanoma cells drive pre-malignant transition in primary melanocytes. However, there is little available in the scientific literature on how exosomes modulate melanocytes in the … Show more

“…Exosomes are nanometer-sized (30–200 nm) membrane-enclosed extracellular vehicles (EVs) ( 7 , 8 ). They originate intracellularly in endosomes and are released into the extracellular environment when multivesicular bodies (MVBs) fused with plasma membranes ( 9 11 ). In 1980, exosomes were thought to represent non-specific waste that resulted from the maturation of reticulocytes into erythrocytes ( 12 , 13 ).…”

“…Activation of the PI3K-Akt pathway and pathways in cancer has been reported to be involved in the development and progression of lung cancer [ 28 ]. In melanocytes driven by lung cancer cell-derived exosomes, the cell cycle pathway may contribute to tumor progression more than any other pathway [ 29 ]. For the urinary system (KIRP and KIRC) (Fig.…”

“…Some proteasomes have been found to aberrantly during carcinogenesis in various types of cancers. Studies have shown that PSMA5 is related to the pathogenic process of prostate cancer and colon cancer [23] and upregulated in lung adenocarcinoma [24]. PSMA2, PSMA3, PSMA4, PSMA6, and PSMA7 showed high expression levels, which were correlated with poor survival of breast cancer patients [25].…”
