Comparative evaluation of five Beauveria isolates for housefly (Musca domestica L.) control and growth optimization of selected strain

Abstract: Pathogenic potential of five native Beauveria isolates was assessed against housefly adult and larvae in laboratory bioassays. Beauveria isolate Beauveria bassiana HQ917687 showed highest virulence with 72.3 and 100 % mortality of larvae and adults of Musca domestica, respectively. Other Beauveria isolates caused 36-52 % housefly larval mortality while the adult mortalities varied between 72 and 82 %. B. bassiana HQ917687 also showed the fastest killing activity with LT(50) of 4 days (for larvae) and 3 days (f… Show more

“…Most of the studies involving enzyme production have been done using one variable-at-a-time (OVAT) approach, providing a favorable range of individual parameters for maximum productivity (Sharma et al, 2009;Mishra and Malik, 2012;. However, these studies completely lacks in representing the effect of interaction between different factors.…”

“…Some studies have utilized these tools statistical for optimization of different processes, e.g. in the enzyme production Maciel et al, 2011), dyes and metals removal (Sharma et al, 2009;Kaushik and Malik, 2011) and control and growth of the microorganism (Mishra and Malik, 2012;. Thus, the aim of this study was to optimize phytase production by Aspergillus japonicus URM 5633 in SSF using cassava bast as substrate and to partially characterize this enzyme.…”

“…Pre-cropping chemical properties of soil, biochar and compost used in this study. pathogenic to insects, one of most common is B. bassiana, an entomopathogen which has extremely broad host range and used as commercial biopesticide for control of insects of agricultural, veterinary and medical significance [35] [36] [37]. The bioactivity of B. bassiana has been proof against many pests in the laboratory and efforts are being made to simulate the results in field condition.…”
