“…Previous studies have shown that administration of 17 alpha, 21 -dihydroxy -delta 1,4 -pregnadiene -3,20 -dione (prednisone) is capable of suppressing the apparently exaggerated response of plasma 17-OHcorticosteroids to ACTH in pregnancy (29), but the degree of suppression is less than that brought about by prednisone in normal subjects.
