Comparative analysis of the serum proteome profiles of thyroid cancer: An initial focus on the lipid profile

Abstract: The serum lipid profile and clinical outcomes of cancer patients are commonly correlated in a wide range of carcinomas. However, few studies have investigated the serum lipid profile of patients with thyroid cancer (TC). The present study therefore aimed to analyze the lipid profiles of patients with TC. The serum proteomes of 31 participants with stage I-IV TC were screened using Orbitrap Q Exactive Plus. Analytical data collected between November 1, 2013 and November 11, 2018 from the laboratory information … Show more

“…Apo-A1 has been proved to be associated with many cancer, furthermore, it could be used as a potential biomarker for detection and diagnosis for many cancers such as bladder cancer [ 16 , 17 ]. In a recent study, researchers observed that lower serum levels of Apo-A1 in thyroid cancer patients compared to healthy controls, indicating that Apo-A1 may play an anti-tumor role in thyroid cancer [ 18 ]. Interestingly, Apo-A1 was showed association with tumor size only in the male group, but not in the female group.…”

“…There were eight upregulated (ratio > 2) and nine downregulated proteins (ratio < 0.5) in the TC group compared to those in the non-TC group, with expression ratios (cancer/control) ranging from 0.0433 to 7.799 ( Table S3 ). The results of some screening of the data from the training study were provided in our previous study ( Li et al, 2019 ).…”

In a recent study, researchers observed that lower serum levels of Apo-A1 in thyroid cancer patients compared to healthy controls, indicating that Apo-A1 may play an anti-tumor role in thyroid cancer [17]. Similarly, Lp (a) also manifested anti-neoplastic properties in other cancers [18][19][20].…”
