One of the most popular surface runoff estimation methods is the rational method. Unfortunately, this method has several concentration-time approaches that have been developed, as one of the parameters, which are specific to the environment to increase the accuracy of the runoff estimation. Therefore, this study aims to estimate surface runoff using a rational method with several concentration-time approaches in order to obtain the best accuracy in tropical palm dates plantations in Aceh Province, Indonesia. The concentration-time approaches studied were Kerby, Kirpich, Manning, Bransby Williams, Federal Aviation Agency (FAA), and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). This research was conducted by making a test plot in the plantation with the length, width, and slope of 22 m, 4 m, and 25%, respectively. Each side of the test plot is given a barrier plate with a height of 15 cm and embedded as deep as 30 cm. In addition, on the bottom side, there is a runoff collection tank with a capacity of 50 L. The physical properties of the soil on the test plots in the form of structure, texture, porosity, permeability, and organic C were granular, sandy loam, 0.43%, 1.84 cm/day, and 1.25%, respectively. The test was carried out from March to November 2020 with 37 days of rain. The results of this study indicate that there are significant differences between each concentration-time approach being tested. The best runoff estimation uses the Bransby William method in units of l/hr with the root mean square of 7.95.

This study aims determine the physical, chemical and biological characteristics of borehole water in Awka. The Study Activities Include: Collection of borehole water samples, Identification of physical, chemical and biochemical characteristics present in the borehole water samples, analyzing the characteristics, comparing the characteristics of the water samples to the World Health Organizations (WHO) standards, Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA) and the Nigerian Industrial Standard (NIS), Identification of health effects of imbalance in the characteristic and development recommendation for improving the quality of borehole water. The study was carried out in Microbiology laboratory, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Uli, Anambra State, Nigeria (5.7699° N, 6.8361° E). It took six months to complete the study. The physical, chemical and biological characteristics were carefully analyzed with the right methodology which includes HANNA INSTRUCTIONS FOR pH, Electrical Conductivity and temperature, GALVERMETRIC METHOD for Total Dissolved Oxygen, ARGENTOMETRIC METHOD for chloride, molybdenum blue phosphorous method for phosphate, PHENATE SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHOD for ammonia, WINKLER'S TITRIMETRIC METHOD for Dissolved Oxygen, TITRIMETRIC METHOD for total acidity, alkalinity and hardness, ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY for heavy metals and MEMBRANE FILTERATION TECHNIQUE for total coliform and total E. Coli counts. This study presents results for these characteristics which ranges from: 28.3°C - 32°C for temperature which are all below WHO standards, 4.5 - 7.6 for pH, 0.02ms/cm - 1.355ms/cm for Electrical Conductivity, 19.5mg/L - 1020.75 mg/L for Total Dissolved Solids, 4.5mg/L - 8.6mg/L for Dissolved Oxygen, 64mg/L - 198mg/L for Chemical Oxygen Demand, 20mg/L - 138.8mg/L for Total Hardness, 25.2mg/L - 340.2mg/L for Chloride, 5.02ppm - 17.6ppm for phosphate, 0.27mg/L - 6.99mg/L, 2fcu/100ml - 130fcu/100ml for Total coliform count, 1fcu/100ml - 33fcu/100ml, 5.2mg/L - 17mg/L for total acidity, 10mg/L - 255mg/L for total acidity. Conclusion: Results of these characteristics were compared with World Health standards of drinking water, Nigeria Industrial Standards and Federal Environmental Protection Agency standards. The average values the parameters were as well compared to these standards and recommendations were developed for the maintenance and improvement of borehole water quality.

Remediating soil contaminated by petroleum is a significant environmental problem that calls for long-term and practical solutions. In order to solve this problem, this study investigates the potential benefits of combining phytoremediation with bioremediation procedures. Whereas phytoremediation uses specialized plants to collect and detoxify pollutants, bioremediation makes use of microorganisms' inherent ability to degrade materials. Aim of the search is to assess the viability, effectiveness, and ecological consequences of these techniques. Systematic experiments revealed that petroleum pollutants in soil can be efficiently reduced by both phytoremediation and bioremediation. While phytoremediation demonstrates the potential of specific plant species to collect and mitigate contaminants, bioremediation benefits from a broad microbial community that breaks down complex hydrocarbons. A few variables that affect the effectiveness of both strategies are temperature, moisture levels, plant selection, and microbial activity. The use of bioremediation and phytoremediation both have benefits and drawbacks, which renders them complimentary methods. Site- specific elements including soil characteristics, pollutant kinds, and weather patterns affect its performance. These techniques are being improved upon by research, which also incorporates cutting-edge technology like genetic engineering and nanoremediation.
