Comparative Analysis of Some Existing Models for Estimating the Time of Concentration for Watersheds in Anambra State, Nigeria

Abstract: This study considered the estimation of the time of concentration (TC) using 30 different watersheds in Anambra State, Nigeria. The study assessed the performance of some existing models for the estimation of time of concentration in the study area. Data for this research were collected from watersheds located at Awka-South Local Government in Anambra State. A measured time of concentration values was also obtained by using a tracer at the watershed divide and the time it took the tracer to get the outlet of t… Show more

“…Estimation of concentration-time from rational methods that have been developed includes the Kerby approach [9], Kirpich [10], Manning's [11], Bransby Williams [11], Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) [12], and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) [13]. To the best of our knowledge, investigations related to this concentration-time approach to the accuracy of runoff estimation by the rational method had not been carried out.…”

“…Then, 2 mL Eriochrome black T indicator solution. The resultant was later titrated against standard EDTA solution stirring rapidly in the beginning and slowly towards the end till end point is reached when all the traces of red and purple color disappear and solution is clear sky blue in color [9,10].…”

“…The term "remediation" refers to the process of cleaning up or getting rid of contaminants using these biological agents. These living things have the ability to mineralize (completely remove) contaminants or bio transform (change them into less hazardous forms) them [1][2][3][4][5]. This is a procedure that many bacteria and fungus are capable of.…”
